A message from Margo Empen, Superintendent of Dixon Public Schools:
The April 15, 2020 Board of Education Meeting will take place, but a few changes are being instituted as a result of the COVID-19 Stay at Home Order by Governor Pritzker.
The public will not be allowed onsite for the April 15th Board Meeting, but are invited to attend by viewing our video stream of the meeting. The Open Meetings Act has been amended as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The provisions of the Open Meetings Act, requiring in-person attendance by members of a public body are suspended. The conditions limiting when remote participation is permitted is suspended as well. When a meeting is necessary, public bodies are encouraged to provide video, audio, and/or telephonic access to meetings to ensure members of the public may monitor the meeting, and to update their websites and social media feeds to keep the public fully apprised of any modifications to their meeting schedules or format of their meetings.
Dixon Public Schools will be video streaming the April 15th Board Meeting to ensure transparency, since no members of the public body will be able to attend in person due to the Stay At Home order by Governor Pritzker. Only District Administration and Board Members, who choose to be present, will be onsite during the April 15, 2020 Board Meeting. All other administration and Board Members will be participating remotely via video.
We will continue to honor our Citizen's Agenda during the meeting. If members of our community or staff would like to provide comments and input, they can email them to Superintendent Empen mempen@dps170.org and President Wegner lwegner@dps170.org by noon on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Any emails received that pertain to the Citizen's Agenda will be read aloud during the meeting.
Please continue to monitor our website, app, and social media platforms for updates and information related to the April 15, 2020 Board of Education Meeting.
