Mrs. Magnafici shared a bracelet that she purchased during the Vietnam War with the 7th grade Social Studies classes. The bracelet was purchased through a radio station, WLS, out of Chicago. The radio station was selling the bracelets to support the war effort. Each bracelet had the name of a U.S. soldier serving in the war engraved into it.
Mrs. Magnafici's bracelet had the name James Stockdale engraved in it. Admiral James Stockdale was a fighter pilot that served in the war. He was captured and became a Prisoner of War. After researching, Mrs. Magnafici shared his life story with the classes. It helped the students conceptualize what a POW survivor of the Vietnam War had to endure over the years. The picture on the screen is an image of him when he returned home from the war.

Attention all students currently in 8th-11th grade. If you are interested in or have thought about playing football, we will have a mandatory player and parent (a parent must attend with the player) meeting on Wednesday, March 30th at 5:30 p.m. in the DHS cafeteria. We will be discussing summer activities and outlining the fall season. Whether you have played before or not, we are looking for athletes who want to be a part of a great team and are willing to learn and work hard. If you and a parent are unable to attend, you should contact assistant coach Brad Winterland (bwinterland@dps170.org)
